Left receiver is marked St. Etienne MLE 1866 with the date at the right barrel octagonal reading S.1872. Inspection markings to the octagonal faces include J.H followed by circle B and circle J. Right barrel is initialed ME with the stock cartouche reading B.S. OCTOBRE. J. 1872 enclosing ME. Stock serial number does not match, and the item lacks the rubber obturator. Comes with an old metal inventory tag attached to the upper sling loop.
