Locally Made India Pattern 1856 Sergeant's Fusil
.65 caliber smoothbore. 31.25" round barrel secured by two rounded screw clamping bands. NSN. Bright finish, brass furniture, hardwood stock. Single shot percussion ignition smoothbore rifle length "musket" in the form of the British Pattern 1856 Sergeant's Fusil for India Service. Gun appears to be primarily of locally made parts in India with an English barrel with post-1813 Birmingham commercial proof marks and the individually stamped letters NS/RUT to the left of the rear sight. Stock numbered 1910 on the reverse near the buttplate, otherwise unmarked. Block rear sight, musket pattern front sight, sling swivels in stock toe and under upper band. Includes a jag head steel ramrod.
