Contemporary American-Style Militia Fowler Flintlock Musket
.76 caliber. 46.125" round pinned barrel. NSN. Bright finish, steel and brass furniture, hardwood stock. Single shot flintlock muzzleloading smoothbore musket. Produced in the style of the multipurpose "Committee of Safety" muskets of the pre-Revolutionary War period, a multipurpose fowler based upon the Long Land Pattern Brown Bess with some Americanized features. Unmarked. Convex flint lock with pointed tail, rounded, fenced and bridled pan, rounded swan neck cock. Brass buttplate and wrist escutcheon. Steel triggerguard with French style sling ring on post forward of the triggerguard, four steel ramrod pipes with a wooden ramrod, socket bayonet lug under muzzle in the French style as well. Stock with raised carved apron around tang, in a somewhat more French than English style. A good reproduction piece for living history use during the upcoming 250th anniversary of April 19, 1775.
