8vo. Original cloth (light staining); dust jacket (sunning to spine, dampstaining).

FIRST EDITION. Burning Bright was John Steinbeck's third (and considered to be the most successful) attempt to write what he called a "play-novelette," which was a play written in the format of a novel so as to make it more accessible to the casual reader. It was adapted to the stage in 1950 with Rodgers and Hammerstein producing.
