Lot Description
GREY, Zane (1872-1939). Fighting Caravans. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1929.

8vo. Original cloth; dust jacket (very light rubbing).

FIRST EDITION in original dust jacket with $2.00 price on inner flap. Fighting Caravans was later adapted into a Paramount Pictures film starring Gary Cooper. Myers p. 5.

[With]: GREY. Autograph letter signed ("Pearl") to his wife Dolly on Catalina Island letterhead. Catalina Island, California, 27 July [1918]. 3 pp., 8vo, with original envelope addressed in Grey's hand. He writes, in part: "You are treating me shabbily. You are not doing the right or the square thing. You have been dominated by a side of your character, which if not changed, will ruin us." Grey's relationship with Dolly was marked by frequent quarrels, including numerous affairs on Grey's part.

[With]: GREY. Autograph postcard signed ("Pearl") to his wife Dolly (large section of postcard torn away). In full: "Do you remember this tree? Have been gone a week today, and it seems a year. Love to all."
