Property from a Private Southwestern Collection
Created in 1962 in Marseilles by Henri Germain Delauze, the Compagnie Maritime d'Expertise (COMEX) became a pioneer in industrial deep diving, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
In the 1970s COMEX special ordered several series of watches from Rolex for its divers to use while on their missions.
In order to differentiate between COMEX watches and those intended for the public, the first models (notably the Submariner 5514) have a COMEX stamp and inventory number on the case back, with COMEX printed on the dial.
