After Action Report Third US Army 1 August 1944-9 May 1945. Vol. I. The Operations. Volumes I and II Reproduced jointly by 652nd Engineer (Topo) Bn. Co.B, 942nd Engineer Avn. (Topo) Bn. Photos by Third US Army Signal Corps. 421pp. +annexes 22p, 36pp, 66pp, 146pp, with printed photographs, maps, charts, and more. Original acetate sheets remain between chapters. 18 x 13 1/2 x 2 1/2 in. Bound with screw posts and heavy cardboard backing. 

Volume one of a two volume set presenting the history of the Third Army, produced by the Third U.S. Army Headquarters and the XIX Tactical Command of Gen. George Patton's Army in Europe during World War II. Classified as "Secret" when first published, but on June 10, 1946 the volumes were, with some exceptions, declassified. Volume I, "The Operations," combines narratives and data on movements, operations, loss of war material, and casualties, and is heavily supplemented with maps and supporting documentation.

Identified on interior address stickers to "Col. Robert Moore" (1917-1996) of Falls Church, Virginia. Robert Lee Moore enlisted in the U.S. Army on 13 January 1941. A career soldier, he served in both World War II and the Korean War prior to his discharge on 31 January 1973. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
