[WWI-WWII]. Collection of World War I and II-era photographs, RPPCs, ephemera, and correspondence.
Lot comprised of an assemblage of more than 225 items, including photographs, real photo postcards, printed postcards, ephemera, maps, and correspondence, most associated with World War I and II activities at home and abroad, dating from the early-to-mid 20th century. Also included are several modern prints made from World War II-era photographs. Photographs range in size from 2 1/4 x 3 3/8 in. to 8 x 10 in., with both professional and amateur photographs included. Some press photos with typed descriptions on verso are included with the collection.
The collection features several images of soldiers from America and abroad in various settings, from the battlefield, to camp, to enjoying free time abroad. Personal snapshots of the soldiers with family, friends, and sweethearts on the home front and overseas are included, as well as a number of images showing buildings, landmarks, and landscapes, many taken by soldiers while abroad. Photos of prisoners of war, weaponry, aircraft, and locomotives are also enclosed.
