[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 16 charming sixth plate daguerreotypes of parents with their children.
An adorable seated portrait of a young mother holding her baby, posed with its fist held against its face as if about to cough or perhaps suck its thumb. Some items in the portrait are hand-tinted red, including the table cloth next to the pair. (Some tarnishing to edges, some kind of reddish specs present between plate and glass throughout image; original seals.) Housed in a pressed paper case (significant wear and surface loss). -- Seated portrait of a young mother wearing a bonnet, lace gloves, and gold-highlighted jewelry, and holding her baby on her lap with both hands. (Some tarnishing to edges, some spotting/dust specs throughout; original seals.) Housed in a separated leatherette case (separated at spine with partial taped repair, surface wear). -- Seated portrait of a father holding his baby on his lap. (Some spotting/imperfections to plate, discoloration to mat.) Housed in a fully separated leatherette case (split at spine). Velvet pad bears inked date "Oct. 8. 1853." -- Landscape-oriented portrait of a mother, father, and their young son. (Spotting, weeping, and some tarnishing.) Housed in a leatherette case (surface wear). Velvet pad bears affixed paper label inscribed "Milan Barnes & family." -- And 13 others.
