[EDUCATION] Album comp. by member of Iota Phi Lambda, first African American business sorority, plus
"Scrapbook / Beta Tau Chapter / Iota Phi Lambda Sorority." Sacramento, California, 1 August 1951 to 1 August 1952. Leather cover featuring hand-drawn illustration and title: "Light of Intelligence." Scrapbook includes list of chapter officers and roster, as well as table of contents related to scrapbook enclosures. Housed within are news clippings, greeting cards, photographs, invitations, programs, and a community business directory.
Established in 1929 by an African American business woman, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority was the first African American Greek-lettered business sorority.
[With:] "Booker T. Washington Night School / Sewing / Graduating Class of 1950." [Hampton, Virginia?], 1950. Composite photograph, 10 x 8 in., of approx. 70 students, the principal, and class "sponsor," each identified by name. All are African American women except the principal.
