Lot Description
A William & Mary burl walnut-veneered double-domed secretary desk, circa 1700
In two parts, the upper section with two arched doors inset with beveled mirror plates, revealing a fitted interior with shelf over a series of short drawers and file compartments, the lower section with molded top and slant front revealing fitted interior and well and leather writing surface, waist molding over two short drawers above two long drawers, molded base on bun feet.

Condition Report
overall in nice condition, showing mild wear commensurate with age and use; the burl walnut surface retaining lustrous finish; the top and bottom sections both with some detached elements and losses to veneer, and includes bag of some detached pieces; slant front with some splitting to veneer commensurate with age, and the hinges probably re-set, with evidence of minor subtle patches surrounding hinges; mirror plates probably replaced, but of nice quality with beveled edges; the upper part of interior of upper section possibly had other compartments, with evidence of some plugged holes to backboards; the bun feet are possibly original, having the same surface quality as the rest of the piece, and showing no evidence of other holes to underside; the brasses and escutcheons are replaced, with plugged holes filling former screw holes; the sides with age cracks, and the piece with some occasional minor fill, patches, and lifting areas expected for a veneered piece of furniture; includes two keys
