Lot Description
Two rare layered reverse-painted glass panels depicting the first hydrogen balloon flights by the Frères Robert, 19th century
Each with six layers of reverse-painted glass, the first depicting the flight of July 15, 1784 landing in the park at Meudon, the second depicting the flight of September 19, 1784 over the gardens of the Tuileries Palace, inscribed, "Les frères Robert dans le jardin des Tuileries/ Le 19 Septembre 1784," each in matching gilt gesso and carved wood frame.
