[Prints] Audubon, J(ohn). J(ames). White-fronted Goose

(London): R(obert). Havell, 1836. Hand-colored engraving with aquatint and etching, on J. Whatman watermarked paper, dated 1836. Engraved, printed, and colored by Havell after a painting by Audubon. Modern paper mounted along right and bottom edges; light mat burn; scattered spotting; scattered repaired closed tears along side and bottom edges. 25 3/8 x 38 in. (644 x 965 mm). In mat and in frame, 37 x 48 1/2 in. (940 x 1232 mm). Low, p. 154

A handsome example of Audubon's White-fronted Goose, plate CCLXXXVI from his Birds of America (London, 1827-38). "Painting and plate depict a male, left, on the ground, and a female with her wing held up, sitting on a rock with grass behind. Probably painted in 1832" (Low).
