Illustrated with two engraved frontispiece portraits, numerous plates, as well as three folding maps housed in pockets at rear of each volume. Publisher's green cloth-covered boards, stamped in black and in gilt, all edges trimmed; brown-coated endpapers; small separations along map folds; title-pages toned, short closed tear in top edge of same in first volume; bookseller's ticket on rear free endpaper in first volume.
