(Basel: Nicolaus Brylinger), 1572-74. Two works in one volume (with: Frantzösische historn Allerlen Religion..., 1574). First edition in German. Folio. (viii), 382, (18), 505, (1); (10), cclxii, (5) pp. Each volume with title-page printed in red and in black. Illustrated with woodcut device on first title-page and numerous in-text woodcut portraits of French Kings, as well as biblical and historical motifs. Full contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, elaborately stamped in blind, brass clasps intact, one strap perished, title in contemporary manuscript at upper spine, wear along extremities and at corners; all edges trimmed; scattered soiling to text; scattered marginalia.

A very good copy of the first German edition of Frantzösische Chronica. Includes the annals and chronicles of France, from the destruction of Troy until the time of King Louis XI. The first edition originally appeared in Paris in 1525, and is considered the first history of France.
