Provenance:
Private Collection, Maryland.
Note:
Housed in an original tabernacle frame designed by the artist, The Lute Player was executed in Rome, where in 1866 the artist had settled permanently. The lot is accompanied by a copy of Vedder's The Digressions of V (New York, 1910).
