The Beehive House, shown at left, was built in Salt Lake City, Utah, ca 1852-1854, and served as the primary residence of Brigham Young as the first territorial governor of Utah and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Eagle Gate, which spans State Street east of the Beehive House, was originally erected in 1859 at the entrance to Brigham Young’s private family compound.
