Calls, Sounds and Merchandise of the Peking Street Peddlers. Peking: The Camel Bell, n.d. [1936]Oblong 8vo, original color silk, printed paper cover label, decorative slipcase. Text in English with some Chinese characters. First edition, "submitted to the California College in China in part fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of master of arts." Complete with 60 full-page color illustrations, each in two parts, showing the peddler facing his tool, 16 tipped-in black and white plates from photographs, and one mounted paper pattern cut-out. Slipcase worn and broken; contemporary inscriptions to front pastedown and f.f.e.p.; light smudge marks to some leaves.
