A Carved Agate Snuff Bottle the semi-translucent stone of compressed spherical form tapering towards a flat oval foot, the front carved to the russet skin highlighting a child riding atop an ox's back beside a scholar, the reverse with pine tree, pavilion and inscription mutong yaozhi xinghua cun ("An oxherd points to Almond Flower Village in the distance") from poem Qing Ming written by Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu. Height of agate 2 3/8 inches.
