A Chippendale Mahogany Slant-Front Desk ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN GODDARD (1724-1785), NEWPORT, RI the fall front writing surface opening to a fitted interior centered with a shell-carved prospect door flanked by pigeonholes with carved valance drawers and a series of two convex drawers, two shell-carved drawers and four concave drawers, the case fitted with four graduated long drawers, raised on ogee bracket feet. Height 41 5/8 x width 39 5/8 x depth 22 3/4 inches.
