Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies. Washington: Government Printing Office, 1891-1895. 2 volumes, folio (466 x 392 mm). 135 (of 175) lithographic plates, plans and maps (lacking numbers 71-135), letterpress octavo title-page dated 1902 tipped in to vol.I. (Some light marginal chipping, otherwise fine.) Contemporary tan half calf, upper cover gilt (cloth rebacking). The work includes general maps showing infrastructure and topography, as well as battle maps and views. FINE CIVIL WAR PROVENANCE: Col. John J. McCook was a member of the Union Army during the Civil War, the youngest member of the "Fighting McCooks," an Ohio military family who contributed 15 members to the Union effort. McCook later became an attorney, and earned an honarary law degree from Princeton.
