GREENLEAF, Jeremiah (1791-1864) A New Universal Atlas; Comprising Separate Maps of all the Principal Empires, Kingdoms, & States Throughout the World and forming a distinct Atlas of the United States. [Brattleboro, VT: G.R. French,] 1843.Folio (362 x 305 mm). Engraved title, 65 hand-colored engraved maps. (Some repairs to margins, a few leaves lightly dampstained, a few small stains.) Original boards, red morocco lettering-piece gilt, modern rebacking and recorning (a few repairs to board edges.) Later edition of Greenleaf's 1842 atlas, which includes a separate map of Texas in its state of independency, and a map of Oregon Territory with the northern border at the 54 40' mark. RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, only one other copy of this atlas has appeared at auction in the last 40 years. Phillips Atlases 784 (1842 edition).
