Designed for the 1951 Festival of Britain, the Antelope chair was born from innovations in aluminum and thin steel rods in response to wood rationing and restrictions during the war years.
It went on to win the silver medal at the Tenth Triennale Furniture Fair in Milan that same year, and in 1955 the Antelope chair won both Gold and Silver medals at the Salone del Milano, a first for British furniture design.
