Lot Description
A Roman Marble Sculpture Base with a Ram
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
Height 9 inches (22 cm).

Royal Athena Galleries, New York, 24 August 2005 (Inv. no. GMP20).
Condition Report
Intact as preserved. The figure that once stood is now lost except for the proper right foot and partial proper left foot. Minor incrustation with a light brown patina. Minor chips, gashes, and root marks throughout. Moderate surface wear, possibly due to cleaning. At one point the sculpture may have been affixed to a modern base, as there is a slightly tacky adhesive still present on the underside of base. Width 7 1/2 x depth 5 inches.
