A Roman Marble Male Torso
Circa 1st Century A.D.
Height 11 1/4 inches (29 cm).
Provenance:
Private Collection, Connecticut, acquired in the 1980s.
Christie's, New York, Antiquities, 9 December 2010, Lot 192.
Condition Report
Intact as preserved. Losses to head, arms, and legs with uneven breaks. Overall weathered surface with minor chips and abrasions throughout, possibly due to modern cleaning. Light incrustation with uneven patination. Proper right leg smoothed and drilled to accommodate a dowel for modern base, not permanently affixed. Height with base 16 inches. Overall fine stable condition.
