Lot Description
A Historically Significant Tiger Woods Signed Autograph 1996 Las Vegas Invitational Tournament Flown Golf Flag From Woods' First PGA Tour Victory (Tournament Director Letter, PSA Authentic),
With 82 victories, Tiger Woods is tied with Sam Snead with the most PGA tournament wins in history. It is a remarkable run that began in 1996 at the Las Vegas Invitational where he defeated Davis Love III in a playoff after finishing the four days at 27 under. In 2020, Woods told Golf Digest of the victory that provided him a check of $297,000: “Off the charts. Yeah, I was paid by Nike and Titleist, big contracts, but I’d never earned it on the golf course. This was the most amount of money I’d ever earned playing golf.” In addition to the check, Woods was thrilled with another benefit of winning, “I had a place to play for two more years. I was exempt on the Tour.” Six months after this victory, Woods would make history at Augusta National Golf Club winning his first Masters and changing the landscape of golf – and sports forever. Offered here is a remarkable piece of history from that first tournament win, a vintage signed tournament flown flag accompanied by a letter from the tournament manager on Las Vegas Invitational letterhead that reads:

June 11, 1997

Dear Jim,

Please find enclosed an autographed pin flag by Tiger Woods. This flag was one of 18 that flew on the TPC Summerlin course when Tiger won his first professional tournament in Las Vegas in 1996.

Wishing you success with your silent auction.

Sincerely,
Charlie Baron
Tournament Manager

PSA has additionally reviewed the Woods signature inscribed "Tiger Woods" in black Sharpie and certified it with a full letter of authenticity.
