8vo. Original publisher’s green quarter cloth over green paper-covered boards tamped in bronze and green (head and tail of spine very slightly sunned); first-issue dust jacket printed in green, white, orange, and black (some very minor chipping or toning).
FIRST EDITION, in FIRST ISSUE DUST JACKET priced $5.95. By 1974, Irving had already won a Rockefeller Foundation Grant, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and four years after the publication of this work, he would publish The World According to Garp.
