[WESTERN AMERICANA]. BUEHMAN, Henry (1851-1912), photographer. Boudoir photograph of Longfellow Mine Incline. Tucson, Arizona, n.d.
4 1/2 x 7 5/8 in. albumen boudoir photograph on cardstock mount (excellent tonality, very small stain to lower left corner; toning to mount). Titled and numbered in negative. Photographer's imprint to mount recto.
An outdoor image showing a group of miners and spectators gathered around a minecart, labeled "32." The tracks stretch behind the crowd up the Longfellow Incline into the mine entrance nestled in the rocky landscape. A small wooden outbuilding is visible to the left.
Longfellow Mine, with its Incline, was a copper, gold, silver, and clay surface mine located in Morenci, AZ. Originally discovered by Robert Metcalf in 1872, it was owned by several operators and produced from 1882-1932.
