59 x 2 1/4 in. blackened harness leather carbine sling with brass adjustment buckle, brass tip, and unmarked iron snap hook to affix sling to carbine (cracking to leather, some rusting to metal, with wear consistent with field use). Accompanied by russet leather Burnside cartridge box with 7 1/2 x 3 in. internal box containing wooden insert bored for 20 cartridges and inner flap stamped "[E. G]aylord / Chicopee / Mass," and with 8 x 3 3/4 in. outer flap carved with initials "LWW" (varied patination, cracking to leather, one roller buckle without tongue, overall condition consistent with field use). 

A complete and scarce piece of the cavalryman’s equipment that is difficult to find in original unaltered condition as many were often cut down after the war and the leather sold as surplus.
