Lot Description
3rd Division, XII Corps badge. Attributed to H.G. Clagston, Philadelphia, PA, [ca 1863].
1 1/4 in. simulated bullion stamped brass badge initially coated with silver wash then painted in the color of the division on the front. This particular example was painted blue designating 3rd division (retains original attachment wires on the reverse). Considered to be an early 1863 style of badge manufactured by H.G. Clagston of Philadelphia, PA, soon after the adoption of corps badges by the Army of the Potomac.
