Sioux Beaded and Quilled Hide Bag
fourth quarter 19th century

thread and sinew-sewn; beadwork in colors of dark blue, light blue, pea green, red white-heart, and white; red, yellow, and green quilled bands

length 10 inches x width 9-1/2 inches

Previously Included: a handwritten tag noting provenance:
Crow Bag - Collected by Albert J. Goodbrod, 1st US Cav 1867-1869.  This information appears to be incorrect, as according to the Journal of the Thirty-Fourth Annual Encampment of the Department of Oregon Grand Army of the Republic (June 14-16, 1915), after his service in the Union Army, he moved to Oregon in 1876 where he "serve the city and community in numerous capacities; was city marshal for four years; councilman five years, and in various services was always identified with the best interest of the city and state" (1915: 47-49).  

Note is no longer with bag.
