Late 19th Century
ship identified illegibly in upper banner HMS Me[?]la, possibly the naval frigate Melampus.
purportedly executed by Commissioned Boatman Richard Amos Sweetenham (1868-1905).
13 3/4 x 17 1/4 inches.
After enlisting in 1884, Sweetenham was first engaged aboard the HMS St. Vincent in the British Royal Navy.
