Lot Description
A Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Mahogany Bureau Plat
20th Century
Height 30 x width 54 1/4 x depth 28 1/4 inches.
Property from the Estate of Carol J. Feinberg, New York, New York
Condition Report
Height from ground to bottom of center drawer (knee hole) 24 inches. Width of center drawer (knee hole) 21 inches. Height from ground to bottom of outer drawers 21 1/2. In sturdy, usable condition. There is substantial fading, likely from sun exposure, to the wood finish on the top and sides, this is especially notable when comparing to the wood on the pull-out writing slides on either side. One of the bronze lock plates is loose but still attached with one pin so it rotates in place and has scuffed the surrounding wood. With two keys; all locks apparently in good, working order. The leather top with some water marks and scuffs but otherwise in nice condition. Scattered scuffs and scratches to the legs consistent with use.
The physical condition of lots in our auctions can vary due to
age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and
restoration/repair. All lots are sold "AS IS," in the condition
they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make
no representation or warranty and assume no liability of any kind
as to a lot's condition. Any reference to condition in a catalogue
description or a condition report shall not amount to a full
accounting of condition. Condition reports prepared by Hindman
staff are provided as a convenience and may be requested from the
Department prior to bidding.
The absence of a posted condition report on the Hindman website or
in our catalogues should not be interpreted as commentary on an
item's condition. Prospective buyers are responsible for
inspecting a lot or sending their agent or conservator to inspect
the lot on their behalf, and for ensuring that they have
requested, received and understood any condition report provided
by Hindman.
