Portrait of Ysidora Pico Forster

Ysidora Pico Forster (1808-1883) united the two prominent Pico/Forster families of Southern California. Her brother, Pio Pico (1801-1894) was the last governor of California under Mexican rule. In 1837, she married Don Juan Forster (1814-1882), a prominent English-born landowner and cattleman during the gold rush of the late 1840s.
