A William and Mary Pierced Spiral Twist Carved Oak Stool

English, Circa 1700

Height 17 1/2 x width 18 x depth 13 inches.

Condition Report

In overall fine and stable condition. Retains a dark patina, and if not the original surface it is certainly early. Few age cracks visible throughout, none that cause any concerns for structural integrity. Few old traces of “wood worm” visible. Slightly darker to the seat. Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Areas of loss to the carved decoration. The seat is slightly warped due to shrinkage and dowel peg placement.
