FIRST EDITION, SIGNED AND EXTENSIVELY INSCRIBED PERSONAL COPY OF FATS DOMINO. A small booklet distributed by the local 174 American Federation of Musicians in New Orleans, outlining local union rules, regulations, pay scales for players, etc. Pencil inscriptions covering 9 mostly blank pages near the end of the booklet refer to club names and shows in New Orleans along with early band members and fellow musicians.
 
Domino had been playing in the New Orleans scene since he was just 14. This booklet dates from not long after he played for Billy Diamon in 1947. It was after this audition that he was invited to join Diamond's band the Solid Senders who played regularly at the Hideaway Club. Diamond and the Senders are mentioned several times in Domino's notes here, with him recording his pay, usually between 5 or 6 dollars. Also mentioned is Dave Bartholomew (1918-2019), who not only introduced Fats Domino to Imperial Records but with whom Domino famously collaborated on over 40 hits for the label including the enduring "Aint That a Shame."
