Hindman’s September Fine and Important Jewelry Auction to Feature an Exceptional Collection of Signed Jewelry
Beautifully Curated Auction Follows Success of Spring Important Jewelry Sale
Chicago – Hindman Auction’s Fine and Important Jewelry auction will be held on Tuesday, September 15 and will feature an exceptional selection of signed pieces, diamonds, and antique and contemporary jewelry. Hindman’s most recent Fine and Important Jewelry auction was held in May 2020 and exceeded the sale’s presale estimate with record engagement across online bidding platforms, absentee and telephone bidding. The upcoming September sale offers a similar caliber of jewelry, with an exquisite offering by Jean Schlumberger, including some of his most iconic designs.
“We were thrilled by the top results our auctions achieved this spring, with each sale within our Luxury Goods division reaching over 90% sold,” said Kimberly Burt, Vice President of Marketing & Luxury Goods. “We are looking forward to this beautifully curated sale which will offer lovely examples of jewelry by well-known makers our clients are always seeking at auction.”
Among the top lots of the auction is a beautiful oval diamond ring weighing over 6 carats which will be offered with a presale estimate of $60,000-80,000 (lot 155). This stunning stone is offered as part of the Chicago Collection of Norene Goldstein, an important Chicago art collector whose works were highlighted in Hindman’s spring Fine Art auctions.
Signed jewelry continues to command strong prices and this auction will offer a selection of pieces by Van Cleef & Arpels, Jean Schlumberger, Tiffany & Co., Buccellati and Bvlgari among others. A beautiful Van Cleef & Arpels, Sapphire and Diamond ‘Fil de l’eau’ Necklace will be offered with a presale estimate of $35,000-55,000, as well as an extra-wide Mario Buccellati Yellow Gold and Diamond Cuff Bracelet estimated at $22,000-28,000.
Of particular note, is a lovely group of Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. jewelry that includes some of Jean Schlumberger’s most iconic designs. Among the highlights is a ‘Dot Losange’ bangle bracelet estimated at $15,000-20,000. This beautiful paillonné enamel design became known as the “Jackie Bracelet” as it was a favorite accessory of then first lady, Jackie Kennedy. Also included is a Green Beryl and Diamond ‘Bird on a Rock’ Brooch. Schlumberger’s ‘Bird on a Rock’ brooch is one of his most iconic designs and is estimated at $15,000-20,000. It was first created in 1956 and has been made in several iterations with various large ‘rocks’ of different gem varieties.
