LATE QING DYNASTY
清晚期 葫蘆鑲銀嵌寶蓋盒
the gourd encased within a silver openwork network of leafy vines bearing fruiting gourds, inlaid with coral, malachite and other stones, each lobe decorated with roundels enclosing characters reading hu xiao shan lin, long you cang hai (tiger roaring in the mountain, dragon swimming in the sea), raised on a later hardwood stand.
