Lot Description
Three 19th and Early 20th Century Corsets, 1870-1902

This lot includes three corsets. 

THE FIRST
White cotton twill corset with eyelet trim along the top edging, post and loop front closure, and lace back. Laces are included, though likely not original.

THE SECOND
Black cotton twill corset with black glazed cotton vertical boning casings, yellow and black scalloped trim and yellow stay stitching. There is additional numbering handwritten, likely from a museum accession number. Laces are included, though likely not original.

THE THIRD
White ribbed canvas corset edged with white satin ribbon and lace, elastic stocking fasteners, front post and loop closure, and back lace up. Aside from the label stamp, there is additional numbering handwritten, likely from a museum accession number. Laces are included, though likely not original.

Condition Report
Condition:

THE FIRST
The overall condition is good structurally with the following:
Fading/Color Change: There is overall darkening due to age and wear.
Soiling/Spots: The corset is heavily soiled throughout the interior and exterior, with large dark brown spots along the back lace up and upper right back.

THE SECOND
The overall condition is very good structurally with the following:
Structural Issues: The boning is popping out of the bottom casings on the left front.
Soiling/Spots: There are two small white spots on the back right top edge on a boning casing. The interior has two medium spots and the front panels in next to the closure is moderately soiled.

THE THIRD
The overall condition is good structurally with the following:
Structural Issues: The elastic stocking fasteners are stretched though they do retain a small amount of elasticity.
Fading/Color Change: There is overall darkening due to age and wear. 
Soiling/Spots: Moderate soiling is found throughout with darker spots on the front left top edge and both side seams at hip level.
