Four Men's 19th Century Waistcoats/Vests, 1840-1900

This lot includes four men's waistcoats. 

THE FIRST
Black silk satin vest with multi-hued floral embroidery on the front hem and shawl collar, padded front, and front button closures.

Variegated brown stripe with blue and white brocaded double breast vest with notched lapel and front button closures.

Condition Report
Condition:

THE FIRST
The overall condition is poor with the following:
Structural Issues: The outer black fabric on the back of the vest is degrading and splitting and the front hem leather facing is brittle with holes.
Split/Separated Seams: The left shoulder seam and tops of both side seams of the black vest back are splitting and breaking away.
Losses: There are several holes along the back lining. There is a missing front button.
Fading/Color Change: Fading is evident throughout and there is discoloration on each side seam of the black satin. There are large discolored spots on the upper back vest panels.
Soiling/Spots: There is moderate soiling in the lining.
Repairs/Alterations: The back cinch appears to have a repair on the back right belt.

THE SECOND
The overall condition is good with the following:
Structural Issues: The weave along the neckline, hem, and front opening have some areas of loose weaving.
Split/Separated Seams: The middle back cinch is separated on the right side.
Losses: Several of the front buttons are missing their fabric covers.
Fading/Color Change: There's some overall fading throughout the back vest panels.
Soiling/Spots: There's some soiling along the neckline and front opening. Each under arm is lightly soiled as well as throughout the back lining.

THE THIRD
The overall condition is very good with the following:
Soiling/Spots: There is a slight yellowing overall along the front.

THE FOURTH
The overall condition is poor with the following:
Structural Issues: The lining has several shredding spots.
Losses: There is a missing button.
Fading/Color Change: The vest is faded overall, most noticeably on the front satin shell.
Soiling/Spots: There is some soiling under the right arm.
