Four Chinese Polychrome Overlay Glass Articles
18TH-19TH CENTURY
清中期 藍地套金星玻璃三足爐、藍地套紅白料花鳥紋賞瓶、白地套藍料雙耳小水丞及白地套五彩料荷塘圖賞瓶
the first example having a compressed bulbous body of opaque white glass raised above a slightly splayed foot, and flanked by mock mask handles, overlaid to each side with red and blue carved to show chilong and cloud wisps. The second a hu form example of cobalt blue, with applied animal mask handles suspending mock rings in opaque white, overlaid in duochrome red and white with floral sprays. The third of slender form, with a body of translucent white glass overlaid four colors to show lotus blossoms above a rocky band at the base, flanked to either side with chilong handles. The last an unusual petite tripod censer with a stout globular body raised above rounded tripod legs. The body of opaque blue overlaid in an iridescent aventurine carved with chilongs
