Condition Report
In overall good and stable condition.  Slip seat appears to be of the period, but is likely another from the set.  The chair is stamped V and the slip seat VI. Retaining a fairly even refinished patina throughout.  Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Age cracks visible at the base of one rear leg, but structurally sound. Other age  cracks to the top of the splat and tops of the front legs, none of which cause concern for the structural integrity of the chair.  Knee returns are likely early replacements.  It appears that the original dowels have been backed out and replaced with newer dowels, though some may be original. There is a one-inch circular patch on the top of the crest rail above the junction of one stile.  Corner blocks are replaced.

The physical condition of lots in our auctions can vary due to age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and restoration/repair. All lots are sold "AS IS," in the condition they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make no representation or warranty and assume no liability of any kind as to a lot's condition.
