Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 8 items associated with the Confederacy, comprising:

Cdv of Jefferson Davis, no photographer’s identification. 

Card 2-1/4 x 3-1/2”. With “Southern Rights / Death Before Dishonor / The Great Seal of Maryland / United We Stand! Spirit of ’76.” Even though Maryland technically did not secede, her leanings were more to the South.

Group of 4 Confederate Railroad tickets, approx. 2-1/2 x 4”. Printed in center is “Soldier’s Ticket” with blanks for city of origin and destination. These from the Transportation Office at Greenville, Alabama. Montgomery to Columbus; Columbus to Butler; Butler to Macon; and Macon to Midway. All with the same number, so these were likely the route taken by one soldier. Not dated.

Amnesty Oath, 22 Dec. 1865. Signed by John Snider, Columbia County. John snider enlisted Feb. 26, 1862 for 12 mos. In the 19th Arkansas Infantry. “[I] …do solemnly swear, in the presence of Almighty God, that I will henceforth faithfully support, protect and defend the Constitution of the Unite States and the Union of States thereunder;…”
