Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR -- CONFEDERACY].  A cover to the 2nd South Carolina Cavalry, "Hampton's Brigade" with an unused Soldier's Ticket. 

4 7/8 x 3 in. folded cover (creases, few tears, soiling). Ink inscription on exterior reads, "Mrs. Terisia Medlin / Table mountain Po / Pickens District S.C. / By the politeness of / Mr. W.H. Roper. 22 Reg of S.C.V Cavalry / Hamptons Brigade / company (F)." 

3 1/2 x 2 in. printed soldier's railroad ticket (light soiling, wear to edges and corners). Issued by the Richmond & Danville Railroad Company. Printed requisition statement on verso cites the Assistant Quartermaster of the Confederate States at Richmond, VA.

An HDS search returns one result for a "W.H. Roper" serving in the 2nd Regiment South Carolina Cavalry. Listed as enlisting in 1862 as a private, Roper was mustered into Company F of the regiment on 15 August.
