Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 3 photographs incl. a sixth plate ruby ambrotype of a Civil War colonel, a post-Mexican War sixth plate ambrotype, and GAR photograph. 

Sixth plate ruby ambrotype, possibly a period copy image. (Focus a bit soft, very good condition overall.) Housed in a half pressed paper case (some surface wear). Seated portrait of an unidentified Union colonel.

[With:] Sixth plate ambrotype. (Spotting to plate, clouding and discoloration to plate.) Housed under mat, glass, and preserver; no case. Studio portrait of a young man wearing a tall cap and oversized bowtie, with penciled inscription behind image, "forage wheel hat made? post-Mexican War Period / 1852-1860."

[Also with:] 9 3/8 x 7 1/8 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount, showing a large group of Union veterans seated on the front porch of a building, housed in 15 1/2 x 13 1/2 in. frame with no cover glass (light, even toning to photograph, light staining to mount). Frame backing with inscription, "Top left is Grand Greene w/ his regiment." Worcester, MA: W.H. Fitton, ca 1860s-1870s. One of the men near the center of the group holds a flag, presumably the regimental flag.
