Lot Description
[MILITARIA]. A group of 2 painted cheesebox canteens, ca 1810-1830.
5 3/4 in. dia. x 2 in. dp. blue painted wood cheesebox canteen featuring faded "US" on one side (loss to paint in some areas). Iron rivets hold 3 leather sling keepers and overlapping rim in place. Spout and stopper are not present. -- 5 in. dia. x 1 5/8 in. dp. red painted wood cheesebox canteen with remnants of stamped eagle motif on one side and iron clip on other side (loss to paint and surface wear in several areas). Iron rivets hold overlapping rim in place. Spout and stopper are not present. -- Together, 2 militia cheesebox canteens.
