Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. U.S. issue haversack. 

Scarce US regulation issue haversack. Tarred-canvas with fixed shoulder strap and a front flap secured by leather closure strap and roller buckle, both of which are present. Removable cotton inner liner is missing, but the three dished, tin buttons are present. No inspector's stamp visible. Approx. 13 x 12 in. Provenance: Collection of James C. Frasca.

Condition generally good given age and use. Losses and particularly heavy wear at upper corners and to shoulder strap; quarter-sized hole near center; hole along bottom; wear to the tarred fabric. Sewn repairs throughout.
