5 3/4 x 3 3/4 in. printed gauze flag, with central star surrounded by a circle of 5 stars, attached to original stick (light toning, some light staining and spotting near right edge, light fraying to edges). Ca 1861.

Flags such as this example were produced at the beginning of the Civil War in support of the states seceding from the Union. This printed flag was northern made and sent south before Fort Sumter.
