A group of items related to the Revolutionary War, highlighted by Resolves of the General Assembly of the State of Massachusetts-Bay, 1778-1779, inscribed "for the Select men of Topsfield [MA]." [Boston: Printed by John Gill, 1779]. 4pp, 8 1/2 x 13 3/4 in. (disbound, scattered spotting, chipping, later pencil notations). 

Contains 19 resolves, many related to the ongoing war efforts, including "Resolve directing the Board of War to deliver Shirts, Shoes, and Stockings, which the Corps of Invalids are intitled [sic] to"; "Resolve for supplying the Officers of Col. Lamb's Regiment and Col. Stevens's Corps of Artillery with Cloathing"; "Resolve for paying the Committee on Muster-Rolls"; "Resolve for guarding the Powder Magazine at Watertown"; and a "Resolve on the Petition of Stockbridge Indians." 

[With:] "Dr. Thacher's Sermon, On the Death of Governor Hancock" or "A Sermon Preached to the Society in Brattle Street, Boston, October 20, 1793, And Occassioned by the death of His Excellency John Hancock, Esq. L.L.D. And A.A.S. Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts." Boston: Alexander Young, 1793. 8vo, 30pp (scattered spotting, disbound, one page with loss to corner not affecting text). Pastor Peter Thacher preached this memorial sermon two weeks after the Founding Father and Patriot's death.

Mapillustrates the engagement at Saratoga in october 1777 which ended with an important American victory.
