Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Ninth plate tintype featuring an armed federal infantryman in full kit.

Ninth plate tintype seated portrait of a Union infantry private armed with a bowie knife and revolver. (Clouding/tarnishing around subject, with surface mottling to lower portion; unsealed.) Housed in a Union case (soiling, nicking to edges and raised surfaces). The subject wears a frock coat, Hardee Hat, cartridge box with sling, and a belt rig including oval "US" plate and cap pouch. His hat insignia, shoulder scales, buttons, breast plate, belt plate, and one rivet in his knife are all highlighted in gold.
